DIA Inside out

In April, Lapeer and Imlay City will blossom into extraordinary public art galleries. The Detroit Institute of Arts (DIA) will present Inside/Out, in which replicas of seven masterpeices will be installed at outdoor locations in each of the two downtown areas.

The DIA brings framed reproductions of its most famouse works to main streets adn landmark outdoor spaces. Their mission is to create experiences both inside the museum, and out, that will help pepole make personal connections with art. This program (now in its fifth year) finds its audiences outside the museum walls in places where people live, work and play.

In cooperation with Gallery 194, the PIX Theater wil provide trained docents who will guide walking tours of the artwork.

During the Inside/Out event, the LCHS will be hosting events at the Historic Courthouse. Watch for more details.

From the Presidnt's pen

Greetings, as we exit the throes of winter to warmer days ahead. Our thanks to the donors for our Fund Drive. Our appreciation is especially expressed to Gaye Butterfield and Pat Cronin for providing leadership for this important program. While the results have been less than we hoped, the funds are vital to continuing the mission of the Historical Socity.

The next few months will will be busy for us with 'Art on Nepessing' being held form April 26 to May 10. We will be very involved with the kickoff activity at the Historic Courthouse and additional activities during the publicized when plans are set including an invasion of 100 Model T's in August.
